According to NSO Report "India's Inflation Drops to 3.61% in February 2025, Driven by Sharp Decline in Food Inflation".

In March 2025, the National Statistics Office (NSO), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI), released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for rural, urban, and combined areas for February 2025. According to the official data, the year-on-year inflation rate, based on the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) for February 2025 compared to February 2024, is 3.61%, down from 4.26% in the previous month.


      - This decline is mainly due to a sharp drop of 222 basis points in food inflation, which fell from 5.97% in January 2025 to 3.75% in February 2025. This is the lowest level since May 2023, when it was 3.19%.

      - The data also showed that the Industrial Production Index (IIP) grew by 5.0% in January 2025, compared to 3.2% in December 2024.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The inflation in rural areas decreased from 4.59% in January 2025 to 3.79% in February 2025 (provisional data).

      (ii) Similarly, urban inflation decreased from 3.87% in January 2025 to 3.32% in February 2025 (provisional data).
