Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Announces USD 1 Billion Fund for Creator Economy Ahead of WAVES 2025.

In March 2025, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB), announced a USD 1 billion fund aimed at boosting the creator economy, during a high-level session at the World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025) held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi (Delhi).


      - The fund will support creators in accessing capital, improving their skills, enhancing production levels, and reaching global markets.

      - The fund will be supported under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, with further details on its modalities to be announced later.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The Government of India (GoI) also allocated Rs 391 crore for the establishment of India's first Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in Goregaon Film City, Mumbai (Maharashtra).

      (ii) Additionally, MIB and the Government of Maharashtra signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in media, entertainment, and digital outreach.
