DoP Signs MoU with FSID and IISc Bengaluru for Digital Address DPI Tech Architecture Documentation.

MOUs and Agreement

On March 11, 2025, the Department of Posts (DoP), under the Ministry of Communications (MoC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, at Dak Bhawan in New Delhi (Delhi).


      - The MoU aims to design the technology architecture for the Digital Address Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to create a secure, scalable, and interoperable addressing system.

      - This marks a significant step towards a seamless, technology-driven addressing system, reinforcing India's leadership in digital innovation and public infrastructure development.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The MoU was signed during the launch of the "Digital Address Code" Initiative by DoP, which aims to establish a standardized, geo-coded addressing system in India. This initiative will introduce "Address as a Service" (AaaS) to streamline addressing solutions for efficient public and private service delivery.

      (ii) The Digital Address DPI will transform address data creation, sharing, and utilization across India. It will integrate with government, business, and citizen services to enhance service delivery, emergency response, financial inclusion, and urban planning.

(iii) The system is designed to benefit both urban and rural communities by enhancing location intelligence, improving service accessibility, and driving digital inclusion.
