Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Presents Rs 4.09 Lakh Crore Budget for FY26.

In March 2025, the Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, presented his 16th budget for the Financial Year 2025-26 (FY26) at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The budget is worth Rs 4.09 lakh crore (Rs 4,09,549 crore), marking a 12% increase from the Revised Estimates (RE) for FY25, which stood at Rs 3.65 lakh crore.
- The FY26 budget focuses on implementing programmes across six key developmental areas: welfare, agriculture and rural development, urban development, investment and job creation, governance reforms, and overall development.
- Rs 51,034 crore has been allocated for the state government's five guarantee schemes in FY26, a decrease from Rs 56,000 crore in FY25, while total receipts for FY26 are estimated at Rs 4,08,647 crore, reflecting a 13.9% increase compared to FY25's Revised Estimates (RE).
- Revenue receipts for FY26 are estimated at Rs 2,92,477 crore, including Rs 2,08,100 crore from state's tax revenue, Rs 16,500 crore from non-tax revenue, and Rs 67,877 crore from central government funds.
Main Point :- (i) Rs 51,339 crore has been allocated for the agriculture sector, up from Rs 44,000 crore in FY25, focusing on supporting farmers and rural development.
(ii) Rs 45,286 crore has been earmarked for the education sector, making up 10% of the total budget outlay, aiming to improve educational infrastructure and quality.
(iii) Karnataka's GDP is projected to grow at 7.4% in FY25 and the state continues to contribute 8.4% to India’s GDP.
