Indian Private Industry Delivers First Rear Fuselage for LCA Mk1A to HAL.

In March 2025, the first rear fuselage for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A, manufactured by Indian private industry, was handed over to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) by Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Alpha Tocol Engineering Services Private Limited.


      - The handover ceremony took place at HAL's Aircraft Division in Bengaluru, Karnataka, in the presence of Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD).

      - HAL had placed orders with several Indian private companies, including Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), Alpha Tocol Engineering Services Private Limited, Hyderabad (Telangana)-based Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), Hyderabad-based VEM Technologies Private Limited, and Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu)-based Lakshmi Mission Works Limited (LMW), to supply key modules for the 83 LCA Mk1A deal.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The aircraft is already in production, and HAL has manufactured 12 LCA Mk1A rear fuselages. With this supply, a major structural module produced by an Indian private partner will be integrated into the LCA Mk1A aircraft, enabling HAL to meet delivery commitments to the Indian Air Force (IAF) from 2025-26 onwards.

      (ii) The fuselage is the central structure of an aircraft that houses the pilot, passengers, and cargo, while the rear fuselage provides support for the tail section and its related components.
