World Engineering Day (WED) for Sustainable Development, organized by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization), is observed every year on March 4th. This day highlights the important role of engineering in modern life.


      - The day focuses on how engineering helps fight climate change and promotes sustainable development, especially in Africa and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

      - March 4th, 2025, will mark the 6th observance of World Engineering Day.

      - The theme for World Engineering Day 2025, set by UNESCO, is "Unleashing the power of engineers to advance the Sustainable Development Goals."

Main Point :-   (i) In November 2019, UNESCO declared March 4th as World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, following a proposal by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), during UNESCO's 40th General Conference (40 C/64).

      (ii) The first World Engineering Day (WED) was observed on March 4th, 2020.

(iii) In 2025, UNESCO, together with WFEO, will celebrate World Engineering Day (WED) with the theme "Shaping a Sustainable Future Through Engineering" at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. This is part of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD).
