PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates ‘Vantara’ in Gujarat & Chairs 7th NBWL Meeting and Announces Asiatic Lion Population Estimation 2025.

During his visit from March 1 to March 3, 2025, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Vantara, a 3,000-acre animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and chaired the 7th meeting of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) at Gir National Park, Gujarat.


      - He also visited Somnath Temple, Gujarat, offered prayers, and chaired a meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust.

      - Vantara, established by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and the Reliance Foundation, is a mega wildlife rescue center in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

      - It houses the world's largest hospital for elephants, equipped with hydrotherapy pools and jacuzzis to treat arthritis and foot ailments.

Main Point :-   (i) PM Narendra Modi announced the 16th Asiatic Lion Population Estimation, scheduled for May 2025.

      (ii) He laid the foundation for the National Referral Centre for Wildlife in Junagadh to enhance wildlife health management and disease control.

(iii) The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL), constituted by the Government of India (GoI) under Section 5A of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (WLPA), is a 47-member committee headed by the Prime Minister, with the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change serving as the Vice-Chairperson.
