Sri Lanka's Former Captain Dimuth Karunaratne Announces Retirement from International Cricket.

In February 2025, Frank Dimuth Madushanka Karunaratne, the former captain of the Sri Lankan national cricket team, widely known as Dimuth Karunaratne, announced his retirement from international cricket after playing his 100th Test match against Australia in Galle, Sri Lanka.


      - Karunaratne made his first-class debut in 2008 for Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Sri Lanka and was set to play his final match for the club against Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) in the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major Club three-day tournament from February 14 to 16, 2025.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) Karunaratne has played 100 Test matches, scoring 7,222 runs at an average of 39.25, including 16 centuries and 39 half-centuries.

      (ii) He has featured in 50 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), accumulating 1,316 runs, with one century and 11 half-centuries.

(iii) As the captain of Sri Lanka, he led the team in 30 Tests between 2019 and 2023, recording 12 wins and 12 losses under his leadership.
