Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Chairs Regional Meeting of Power Sector 2025; AEML Secures Top Spot in 3 National Rankings.

On February 20, 2025, the Regional Meeting of Power Sector was convened in New Delhi (Delhi) and was chaired by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Ministry of Power (MoP) and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), alongside Union Minister of State (MoS) Shripad Yesso Naik, MoP and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
- During the meeting, the 13th Integrated Ratings, the 4th edition of the CSRD Report, and the Distribution Utilities Ranking (DUR) Reports for Financial Year 2023-24 (FY24) were released, highlighting the top-performing distribution utilities across India.
- The meeting discussed strategies for a financially viable power sector, including privatization, tariff rationalization, and support for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Pumped Storage Projects (PSP).
- The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Union Power Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Secretaries, Principal Secretaries (Power/Energy) from participating States, and Chairmen & Managing Directors (CMDs) of Central and State Power Utilities.
Main Point :- (i) Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) topped the ratings by New Delhi (Delhi)-based Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) for the third consecutive year in recognition of operational excellence.
(ii) AEML also earned an A+ rating from New Delhi (Delhi)-based Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) in recognition of exceptional customer service, while 15 DISCOMs secured the "A" grade.
(iii) The first edition of the Distribution Utilities Ranking (DUR) Report for FY 2023-24 was launched, where AEML ranked as Number 1, followed by TPDDL and NPCL, recognized as the best-performing DISCOMs.
