SBI Projects India's Q3FY25 GDP Growth to Be Between 6.2% and 6.3%.

In February 2025, the State Bank of India (SBI) Research report estimated India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth at 6.2% to 6.3% for the third quarter (October-December) of the Financial Year 2024-25 (Q3 FY25).


      - SBI economists used a "Nowcasting Model" based on 36 high-frequency indicators, including industrial and service activities, as well as global economic factors, to forecast GDP growth.

      - The report predicts a 6.3% GDP growth for FY25, assuming no significant revisions to previous quarter data from the National Statistical Office (NSO).

     

Main Point :-   (i) India's GDP expanded by 5.4% in real terms during the July-September quarter of FY25 (Q2 FY25), which was below the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)'s forecast of 7%.

      (ii) The manufacturing sector, as indicated by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), grew from 3.3% in Q2 FY25 to 4.3% in Q3 FY25.
