EAM S. Jaishankar Attends 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) in Oman.

In February 2025, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Subrahmanyam Jaishankar attended the inaugural session of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) in Muscat, Oman. The conference, themed "Voyage to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership," focused on strengthening regional cooperation and addressing common challenges in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).


      - During the conference, EAM S. Jaishankar delivered the keynote address, emphasizing India's commitment to fostering regional collaboration and maritime security.

      - EAM S. Jaishankar held a meeting with Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, where they reviewed the full spectrum of India-Oman relations and explored opportunities for further collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

      - EAM S. Jaishankar and Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, unveiled a specially designed logo marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman, symbolizing their strong historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties.

Main Point :-   (i) EAM S. Jaishankar and Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, launched the book Mandvi to Muscat: Indian Community and the Shared History of India and Oman, published by the Indian Embassy in Muscat. The book highlights the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations and the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora in Oman.

      (ii) On the sidelines of the conference, EAM S. Jaishankar held bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Brunei, Bangladesh, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, and Nepal.

(iii) These discussions covered key regional and global issues of mutual concern, emphasizing India's commitment to strengthening its engagement in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
