India's CSIR and Nepal's NAST Sign MoU to Enhance Collaboration in Science & Technology.

MOUs and Agreement

In February 2025, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), based in New Delhi (Delhi) under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Nepal. The signing took place at the CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) in New Delhi, Delhi.


      - This partnership aims to strengthen Science and Technology (S&T) cooperation between both countries.

      - The MoU was signed and exchanged by Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General (DG), CSIR, and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), MoS&T, along with Prof. Dr. Dilip Subba, Vice-Chancellor, NAST.

      - Initial agreements in 1997 and 2002 led to joint workshops and training programs beyond their official duration. The new MoU aims to revive and expand this collaboration for enhanced scientific engagement.

Main Point :-   (i) The partnership under the 2025 MoU will involve exchanging scientific knowledge, research materials, and experts, along with organizing joint S&T seminars, workshops, and training programs.

      (ii) It includes joint research projects, access to major research facilities, technology collaborations, and institutional twinning for capacity development.

(iii) The cooperation will cover biological sciences, food technology, water and environmental technologies, mining sciences, metallurgy, biomaterials, nanotechnology, alternative energy, polymer sciences, and drug discovery.
