On February 16, 2025, Indonesia secured their first-ever title at the 4th Edition of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship 2025 by defeating two-time defending champions China with a 3-1 victory in the final. The tournament took place from February 11 to 16, 2025, at the Conson Gymnasium in Qingdao, China.
- Muhammad Shohibul Fikri captained the Indonesia team, while Chen Xujun led the China team.
- Indonesia, for their historic triumph, claimed the gold medal, China settled for silver, while Japan and Thailand secured bronze medals for their strong performances.
- Rinov Rivaldy and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti set the stage for Indonesia’s victory by defeating China’s Gao Jiaxuan and Wu Mengying with a commanding 21-11, 21-13 scoreline, giving Indonesia an early 1-0 lead.
Main Point :- (i) Alwi Farhan secured a 21-15, 21-13 victory over China’s World Junior Champion Hu Zhe’an, extending Indonesia’s lead to 2-0. However, China fought back as Xu Wenjing defeated Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani 21-12, 21-13, bringing the score to 2-1.
(ii) China narrowed the gap to 2-1 as Xu Wenjing defeated Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani 21-12, 21-13 in the Women’s Singles match. However, in the Men’s Doubles, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin secured Indonesia’s historic victory by defeating China’s Chen Xujun and Huang Di 21-15, 21-9, sealing the championship and igniting celebrations among the Indonesian team.
(iii) Team India was eliminated in the Quarterfinals and finished in 6th place in the final standings.
