India Falls to 96th Rank in Corruption Perceptions Index 2024 Scores 38.

On February 11, 2025, Berlin (Germany)-based International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Transparency International (TI) released the '2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI 2024),' assessing the perceived levels of public sector corruption across 180 countries.


      - According to the 2024 CPI Report, India ranks 96th out of 180 countries with a score of 38, reflecting a decline from its 2023 ranking of 93rd with a score of 39. India shares its score and rank with Gambia and Maldives.

      - Denmark secured the top position in the 2024 CPI for the 7th consecutive year with a score of 90, followed by Finland (88) and Singapore (84).

     

Main Point :-   (i) The 2024 CPI reveals that approximately 85% of the global population (about 6.8 billion people) live in countries experiencing high corruption levels.

      (ii) The most corrupt nations at the bottom of the ranking include South Sudan at 180th (score 8), Somalia at 179th (score 9), Venezuela at 178th (score 10), and Syria at 177th (score 12).
