GAL Partners with UNGC Initiative to Advance Sustainable Aviation.

On February 03, 2025, GMR Airports Limited (GAL), formerly known as GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited (GIL) and India's largest airport operator, joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, reinforcing its commitment to becoming a global leader in sustainable aviation.


      - As a member of UNGC, GAL has pledged to align its strategies and operations with the ten principles of UNGC, encompassing human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, while actively promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

      - GMR Airports Limited (GAL) operates major airports, including Delhi International Airport Limited (DAL) in New Delhi, Hyderabad International Airport in Telangana, Manohar International Airport in Goa, Bidar Airport in Karnataka, and Kualanamu International Airport in Indonesia. It also provides technical services for Mactan Cebu International Airport (Philippines) and is developing Bhogapuram Airport (Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh) and Crete Airport (Greece).

      - GAL manages the airport segment and security solutions business through its wholly owned subsidiary, RAXA Security Services Limited (RAXA). All GAL-operated airports are certified as green buildings by either the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) or the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

Main Point :-   (i) The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is a voluntary initiative that promotes corporate sustainability by encouraging businesses worldwide to adopt responsible and ethical practices. With a network of over 20,000 participating companies across 160+ countries, it aims to drive global progress in sustainability and social responsibility.

      (ii) The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) offers a platform for businesses to support the achievement of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participating companies commit to transparency, accountability, and annually reporting their progress toward sustainable and responsible business practices.
