IICA and CMAI Ink MoU to Strengthen India's Carbon Market.

MOUs and Agreement

On February 4, 2025, the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), based in Gurugram, Haryana, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Carbon Markets Association of India (CMAI), headquartered in New Delhi, during the IICA-CMAI Masterclass on Global & Indian Carbon Markets. This event was part of India Climate Week 2025 (February 3–7, 2025), held in New Delhi.


      - The MoU aims to enhance India's carbon markets, facilitate decarbonization efforts, and equip industry professionals, policymakers, and academics with essential knowledge to navigate the evolving carbon market landscape in India.

      - The event was attended by Union Minister Nitin Jairam Gadkari (Minister for Road Transport & Highways), Garima Dadhich (Head of the School of Business Environment at IICA), and Manish Dabkara (President of CMAI).

      - The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Carbon Markets Association of India (CMAI) will collaborate on various initiatives to advance carbon markets, promote low-carbon industrial solutions, and support sustainable finance. CMAI will act as a knowledge partner to IICA, contributing expertise and insights to these efforts.

Main Point :-   (i) They will jointly develop training programs focused on carbon markets, low-carbon industrial strategies, and sustainable finance, equipping professionals with essential skills. Additionally, they will conduct joint research and publish findings on decarbonization strategies and carbon trading mechanisms.

      (ii) The partnership will also involve hosting workshops and conferences to facilitate discussions among industry leaders, policymakers, and academics. These events will provide a platform for knowledge exchange and strategic planning in the field of carbon markets.

(iii) Furthermore, both organizations will engage in policy advocacy to support the development of regulatory frameworks that align with India’s net-zero goals. Their efforts aim to shape policies that drive sustainable economic growth while reducing carbon emissions.
