World Cancer Day (WCD) is observed annually on February 4 worldwide to raise awareness about cancer-related issues and promote efforts in prevention, early detection, and treatment.
- The campaign theme for WCD 2025-2027 is "United by Unique," highlighting the significance of personalized, patient-centered care in the fight against cancer.
- On February 4, 1999, the 'Charter of Paris', consisting of 10 articles, was adopted at the World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium in Paris, France.
Main Point :- (i) Under Article X, WCD was officially designated to be observed annually on February 4.
(ii) The first-ever WCD was observed on February 4, 2000.
(iii) February 4, 2025, marks 25 years since the signing of the Charter of Paris Against Cancer.
