According to IATA Report India Leads Global Domestic Passenger Load Factor in 2024.

In January 2025, Montreal (Canada)-based International Air Transport Association (IATA) released its 'full-year and December 2024 international passenger market performance data,' highlighting record-high demand for air travel.


      - As per IATA's domestic full-year traffic report, India's domestic flights recorded a Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of 86.4% in 2024 (down by 0.6 percentage points compared to 2023), making it the highest among all domestic markets.

      - India surpassed the United States of America (USA) (84.1%) and China (83.2%), which ranked 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

      - As per Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data, India's aviation sector witnessed 163 million passengers boarding domestic flights in 2024.

Main Point :-   (i) The report revealed that domestic full-year demand in 2024 reached record highs in passenger numbers and load factors, with traffic increasing by 5.7% and capacity rising by 2.5% compared to the previous year.

      (ii) The report showed that total full-year traffic in 2024, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPKs), increased by 10.4% compared to 2023.

(iii) As per the report, international full-year traffic increased by 13.6% in 2024, while capacity increased by 12.8% compared to 2023.
