India Clinches ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025, Defeating South Africa for the Second Consecutive Time.

On February 02, 2025, India emerged victorious in the 2nd edition of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 (U19) Women's T20 World Cup 2025, clinching the title for the second consecutive time by defeating South Africa by 9 wickets in the final at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia.
- The Indian women's cricket team was captained by Niki Prasad, while the South African team was led by Kayla Reyneke.
- Following this victory, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah announced a prize money of Rs 5 crore for India’s U-19 women’s team.
- South Africa, batting first, scored 82 runs in 20 overs. India chased down the target easily, reaching 84 runs in just 11.2 overs, winning by 9 wickets with 52 balls to spare.
Main Point :- (i) Gongadi Trisha was awarded both the 'Player of the Match 2025' and 'Player of the Series 2025' awards for her outstanding performance in the tournament. She had an exceptional run, scoring 309 runs at an average of 77.25 and a strike rate of 147.14. In the final, she scored an unbeaten 44 runs off 33 balls and took 3 wickets for 15 runs, playing a key role in leading India to victory.
(ii) Sanika Chalke supported with an unbeaten 26 off 22 balls, while Vaishnavi Sharma led the bowling with 17 wickets, followed by Aayushi Shukla. Sharma, Shukla, and Parunika Sisodia each claimed 2 wickets, contributing to a well-rounded team effort in both batting and bowling.
(iii) The ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup is an international cricket competition organized by the ICC since 2023, featuring 16 teams and 41 matches in a T20 format. In the inaugural edition in 2023, India defeated England by 7 wickets in the final held in South Africa. The third edition is scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh and Nepal in 2027.
