Indian athlete Jyothi Yarraji sets a new national record in the 60m hurdles.

In January 2025, Jyothi Yarraji, an Indian track and field athlete from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP), won the Gold medal in the women's 60-meter hurdles at the Elite Indoor Meeting in Nantes, France.


      - Jyothi Yarraji broke her own National Record twice in one day. She clocked 8.07 seconds in the heats and 8.04 seconds in the final, setting a new National Record for India.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) Her previous record was 8.12 seconds, set at the 2024 Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran (Iran), where she also won the Gold medal in the 60m hurdles.

      (ii) On January 17, 2025, she was honored with the 'Arjuna Award 2024' for her performance in the 100m hurdles in athletics at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

(iii) In the men's 60m hurdles, Tejas Shirse won the Bronze medal with a time of 7.68 seconds and set a national record in Luxembourg with a time of 7.65 seconds.
