Alexander Lukashenko Secures Seventh Consecutive Term as President of Belarus.

In January 2025, Alexander Lukashenko was re-elected as President of Belarus for his 7th consecutive five-year term, securing 86.8% of the vote in the presidential election.


      - Belarus, officially known as the Republic of Belarus, is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, bordered by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia.

      - The country’s capital is Minsk, and its currency is the Belarusian Ruble (BYN). Roman Alexandrovich Golovchenko serves as the Prime Minister of Belarus.

     

Main Point :-   (i) Alexander Lukashenko became the first president of Belarus in 1994 and has been the only person to hold the position since then.

      (ii) The Belarusian Parliament, known as the National Assembly, is a bicameral body with two chambers: the Council of the Republic (upper house) with 110 members, and the House of Representatives (lower house) with 64 members.
