Janet E. Petro Appointed as NASA's First Woman Acting Administrator by U.S. President Donald Trump.

On January 20, 2025, Janet E. Petro was appointed as the 15th Acting Administrator of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) by U.S. President Donald John Trump. She became the first woman to lead NASA since its establishment in 1958, taking over from the 14th NASA Administrator, Bill Nelson.


      - In addition to this role, she is also serving as the 11th Director of NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida, USA. She was the first woman to hold this position.

      - Janet E. Petro is an American engineer and civil servant, known for her significant contributions to space exploration and aviation.

      - She joined NASA in 2000 and worked as the Deputy Director at the John F. Kennedy Space Center until 2019.

Main Point :-   (i) In 2018, Janet E. Petro was inducted into the 'Florida Women's Hall of Fame' by the Governor of Florida.

      (ii) She also held a 12-month appointment as the Deputy Associate Administrator and Acting Director for NASA’s Office of Evaluation.

(iii) On June 30, 2021, she was appointed as the 11th Director of the John F. Kennedy Space Center by the 14th NASA Administrator, Bill Nelson.
