"DARPG Launches Scheme and Portal for PM's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2024."

On January 20, 2025, the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions (MoPP&P), launched the scheme and web portal for the Prime Minister's (PM) Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2024.
- The registration on the PM's Awards web portal began on January 20, 2025. Submission of nominations will start on January 27, 2025, and the final date for submission is February 14, 2025.
- The scheme will honor civil servants for their outstanding contributions under three categories, awarding a total of 16 awards.
- The award includes a Trophy, a Scroll, and an incentive of ₹20 lakh, which the awarded district or organization can use for implementing projects, programs, or addressing resource gaps in public welfare.
Main Point :- (i) The Government of India (GoI) introduced the "Prime Minister's (PM's) Awards for Excellence in Public Administration" in 2006 to honor and reward exceptional and innovative contributions by Districts and Organizations from Central and State Governments.
(ii) The scheme underwent restructuring in 2014 and 2020, followed by a comprehensive revamp with a fresh approach in 2021.
(iii) Its primary objective is to encourage constructive competition, foster innovation, replicate successful initiatives, and institutionalize best practices in public administration.
