In January 2025, the Rubber Board (RB) based in Kottayam, Kerala, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I), launched two key initiatives, ‘iSNR (Indian Sustainable Natural Rubber)’ and ‘INR Konnect’, during the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Rubber Act, 1947, and the Rubber Growers' Conference held in Kottayam.
- These initiatives aim to enhance India’s global standing in the rubber industry and boost domestic rubber production.
Main Point :- (i) The iSNR initiative ensures that Indian rubber production complies with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) standards, promoting sustainability in rubber cultivation.
(ii) INR Konnect is a web-based platform created to link owners of underutilized rubber plantations with potential adopters, thereby increasing plantation productivity.
