INROAD Project Receives Rs 100 Crore to Enhance Natural Rubber Quality in Northeast India.

In January 2025, the Indian Natural Rubber Operations for Assisted Development (INROAD) project secured a financial support of Rs 100 crore aimed at improving the quality of natural rubber in Northeast India.


      - INROAD stands as the world’s first project where the tyre industry directly contributes to the growth of rubber plantations, with a special focus on women’s economic empowerment in rubber cultivation.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) The project is being implemented by the Rubber Board of India and financially supported by four members of the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA), including Apollo Tyres Limited, CEAT Limited, JK Tyre & Industries Limited, and MRF Tyres.

      (ii) New Natural Rubber (NR) plantations across 94 districts in Northeast India and parts of West Bengal (WB) have covered a total area of 1,25,272 hectares in the first four years of the project.

(iii) The project will also offer skill-based training through digital platforms, alongside the development of infrastructure, including Model Smoke Houses and Model Processing and Grading Centres, specifically designed for the region.
