The 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of Parliaments of Commonwealth Countries (CSPOC) will be hosted in New Delhi, India in 2026. This announcement was made by Om Birla, Speaker of Lok Sabha, on January 10, 2025, at the CSPOC Standing Committee Meeting held in Guernsey.


      - The CSPOC aims to focus on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media in parliamentary operations to enhance cooperation among member countries.

      - These technologies will be used to provide regional language translations for Members of Parliament (MPs) and make parliamentary papers available in different languages.

     

Main Point :-   (i) India has emerged as the world’s 5th-largest economy and the 3rd-largest startup ecosystem, undergoing transformative growth in sectors such as agriculture, fintech, AI, and research and innovation.

      (ii) India’s selection as the host for the 28th CSPOC highlights its rich cultural heritage, rooted in the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning "the whole world is one family."

(iii) India had previously hosted the CSPOC in 1970-71, 1986, and 2010.
