Renowned Malayalam writer, filmmaker, and Padma Bhushan awardee MT Vasudevan Nair (known as MT) passed away at the age of 91 in Kozhikode, Kerala. He was born in 1933 in Kudallur, Kerala.
- In 2005, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, for his contributions to literature and education.
- MT Vasudevan Nair started his career as a sub-editor at the Malayalam weekly Mathrubhumi in 1956 and became its editor in 1968.
- He wrote 9 novels, 19 collections of short stories, and several essays and memoirs over a career that lasted seven decades.
