On January 9, 2025, renowned playback singer P. Jayachandran, affectionately known as 'Bhava Gayakan,' passed away at the age of 80 in Thrissur, Kerala. He was born on March 3, 1944, in Ernakulam.


      - He won numerous awards, including the prestigious 'National Film Award.'

      - P. Jayachandran was a celebrated playback singer, known for his versatility in singing in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi. His career began in 1966 with the song "Manjalayil Mungi Thorthi" from the Malayalam film Kalithozhan.

      - Over his 50-year career, he recorded more than 16,000 songs in various Indian languages and made his acting debut in the 1986 Malayalam film Nakhakshathangal.

Main Point :-   (i) In 1986, he won the 'National Film Award' for Best Male Playback Singer for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.

      (ii) He was honored with the 'J C Daniel Award,' the highest recognition in Malayalam cinema, in 2020 for his contributions to the industry.

(iii) He also received 5 Kerala State Film Awards and 4 Tamil Nadu (TN) State Film Awards, including the TN State Film Award (1994) and the TN Kalaimamani Award (1997).
