Henley Passport Index 2025 Singapore Reclaims Title of World's Most Powerful Passport and India Ranks 85th.

On January 08, 2025, Henley & Partners, based in London (United Kingdom), released the annual Henley Passport Index 2025. According to the index, Singapore has regained its position as the world's most powerful passport, offering visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations worldwide.


      - India's rank has fallen from 80th position in 2024 to 85th position in 2025 on the Henley Passport Index. The country now offers visa-free access to only 57 destinations, a decline from 62 destinations in 2024.

      - Japan secured the 2nd rank, providing visa-free access to 193 destinations.

     

Main Point :-   (i) According to the index, several European Union (EU) member states, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, saw a drop in their ranking from 2nd place in 2024 to 3rd place in 2025.

      (ii) These EU countries are now ranked alongside Finland and South Korea, each offering visa-free access to 192 destinations worldwide.

(iii) The index, created by Dr. Christian H. Kaelin, compares 199 passports and 227 travel destinations annually over the past 19 years, ranking countries based on visa-free access available to holders of that country's passport.
