Titagarh Rail delivers India's first "Make-in-India" driverless trainset to Bengaluru Metro.

In January 2025, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (previously known as Titagarh Wagons Limited) took a major step forward in India's urban transportation by delivering the country’s first driverless, Made-in-India trainset to Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).


      - The delivery is an important milestone for the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro, which covers an 18-kilometer stretch starting from Electronics City. This move is in line with India's vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

      - It is an automated, stainless steel-bodied train designed for excellent performance.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The trainset was built at Titagarh Rail’s metro manufacturing facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal (WB).

      (ii) Titagarh Rail will deliver two more trainsets to BMRCL by April 2025, and they plan to increase production to two units per month by September 2025.

(iii) This achievement highlights India's commitment to improving urban transport while promoting local manufacturing through the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative.
