Ministry of Defence Proclaims 2025 as the "Year of Reforms".

On January 1, 2025, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) officially designated 2025 as the "Year of Reforms." This initiative aims to modernize the tri-services and transform them into a technologically advanced, combat-ready force capable of executing multi-domain integrated operations.


      - The decision was unanimously made during a meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with all MoD secretaries, to review the progress of various schemes, projects, and reforms.

      - The reforms will prioritize strengthening Jointness and Integration initiatives, establishing Integrated Theatre Commands, and focusing on emerging areas such as Cyber, Space, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Hypersonics, and Robotics to enhance future combat capabilities.

      - Efforts will be made to simplify and expedite defence acquisition procedures, foster public-private partnerships (PPPs), and promote technology transfer and knowledge sharing between the defence sector and civil industries.

Main Point :-   (i) The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has set an ambitious target of achieving defence exports worth ₹50,000 crore by 2029, representing a significant increase of over 137% from the record ₹21,083 crore (~USD 2.63 billion) achieved in the Financial Year 2023-24 (FY24).

      (ii) This figure reflects a 32.5% growth compared to ₹15,920 crore exported in FY23 and a remarkable 31-fold increase from FY14 levels.
