Rajat Verma has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of DBS Bank India.

Appointment

In December 2024, Rajat Verma was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DBS Bank India Limited (DBIL), a subsidiary of Singapore-based DBS Group. His appointment will be effective from March 1, 2025. He will also join DBS's Group Management Committee.


      - Rajat Verma will take over from Surojit Shome, who will retire on February 28, 2025, after successfully leading the bank for 10 years.

      - Currently, Rajat Verma is the head of the Institutional Banking Group (IBG) at DBIL.

      - The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved his appointment, following a proposal from DBS Bank.

Main Point :-   (i) Rajat Verma is an experienced banker with 27 years of expertise in areas such as consumer and corporate banking, transaction banking, financial institutions, sustainable finance, SME banking, and branch banking.

      (ii) He joined DBS Bank India Limited (DBIL) in June 2023. Under his leadership, DBIL was recognized as the Best Bank for Sustainable Finance in India by Global Finance in 2024. 3.

(iii) Before joining DBIL, Verma was the Managing Director (MD) and Country Head of Commercial Banking at HSBC India (Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited).
