The USA has declared the bald eagle as its National Bird after 240 years.

In December 2024, the President of the United States (USA), Joseph Robinette Biden, signed a bipartisan bill officially making the Bald Eagle the National Bird of the USA. This formal recognition highlights the Bald Eagle's role as a symbol of American strength and power, a title it has held informally for over 240 years.


      - The Bald Eagle has been a symbol of the USA since 1782, when it was first featured on the Great Seal of the USA. The seal includes the eagle, an olive branch, arrows, a shield, the motto "E Pluribus Unum" (meaning "Out of Many, One"), and a constellation of stars.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) The Bald Eagle is native to North America, including Canada and the USA, and appears on many national symbols such as the presidential flag, US currency, and military insignia.

      (ii) The scientific name of the Bald Eagle is Haliaeetus leucocephalus, known for its distinctive white head and yellow beak on a brown body.
