App and Web Portal
In November 2024, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD), announced the successful nationwide launch of the e-Daakhil portal across all States and Union Territories (UTs) of India.
- This milestone was achieved after the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), launched the portal in Ladakh on 22nd November 2024, making the initiative truly pan-India.
- As of 31st December 2023, the e-Daakhil portal had already been launched in 35 states/UTs, except Ladakh.
- Introduced on 7th September 2020 by the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC), e-Daakhil is an online platform designed to streamline the consumer grievance redressal process. It was developed as a quick, inexpensive, and hassle-free mechanism for filing complaints during the COVID-19 restrictions.
Main Point :- (i) The platform provides an easy-to-use interface for consumers to file complaints, track their status, and make payments, all while eliminating the need for physical appearances at forums.
(ii) e-Daakhil ensures a paperless, transparent process, allowing consumers or advocates to file complaints from anywhere.
(iii) Over 2.81 lakh users have registered on e-Daakhil, with 1,98,725 cases filed and 38,453 cases disposed of; additionally, the Government of India plans to introduce "e-Jagriti," a new initiative to automate the filing and management of consumer cases, ensuring a smoother experience for all stakeholders.
