Union Minister Annapurna Devi inaugurated the 'Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat' Campaign and launched the 'Child Marriage Free Bharat Portal.'

On November 27, 2024, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, launched the "Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat" campaign at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, to eliminate child marriage and empower young girls across India. This national initiative focuses on combating child marriage and ensuring education, safety, and opportunities for girls to pursue their dreams.


      - The launch aligns with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign observed from November 25, 2024 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10, 2024 (Human Rights Day).

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) The event also featured the introduction of the 'Child Marriage Free Bharat Portal', an online platform that enables citizens to report child marriage cases, file complaints, and access details of Child Marriage Prohibition Officers (CMPOs) across the country.

      (ii) The Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) at the national level improved from 918 in 2014-15 to 930 in 2023-24.
