Arjun Vajpai Becomes 1st Indian to Conquer Mount Shishapangma in China.

In November 2024, Arjun Vajpai, the youngest person to climb Mount Everest, achieved a historic milestone by summiting Mount Shishapangma in China, his eighth peak above 8,000 meters (m).


      - This extraordinary achievement makes him the first Indian to summit Mount Shishapangma, the fastest to reach its summit and return (from Base Camp in under 72 hours), and the first Indian to conquer eight 8,000-meter peaks.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) Arjun Vajpai began his pursuit of all 14 of the world’s 8,000m peaks at age 16 and now he is on track to become the first Indian to complete this extraordinary achievement. He has now summited 8 of the 14 tallest mountains on Earth.

      (ii) He was only 30 years old when he set the Guinness World Record for being the youngest person to climb Mt. Everest (2010) and Mt. Lhotse (2011) and also holds the record for the fastest ascent of an 8,000m peak in China.

(iii) His mountaineering legacy includes summits of Everest (2010), Lhotse (2011), Manaslu (2011), Makalu (2016), Cho Oyu (2016), Kanchenjunga (2018), and Annapurna (2023). Despite setbacks, including a serious injury, Vajpai's resilience continues to inspire India.
