ISRO Successfully Conducts Sea Level Hot Test of CE20 Cryogenic Engine
Science and Technology
ISRO has carried out a successful sea level hot test of its CE20 Cryogenic Engine with a nozzle area ratio of 100 at the ISRO Propulsion Complex, Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu on November 29, 2024. The test demonstrated the performance of a multi-element igniter necessary for engine restart capability, overcoming challenges such as flow separation inside the nozzle. This innovative test method aims to reduce complexity and cost in acceptance testing of cryogenic engines.
- The test featured a nozzle area ratio of 100 and a multi-element igniter.
- Test aims to simplify acceptance testing processes.
Main Point :- (i) CE20 engine has been qualified for thrust levels of 19, 20, and 22 tonnes for various missions.
Establishment : August 15, 1969.
Headquarters: Bangalore, Karnataka.
