Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka has been named the WTA Player of the Year for 2024, marking her first time receiving this prestigious honor. The 26-year-old had an outstanding season, winning two Grand Slam titles—the Australian Open in January and the US Open in September—and finishing the year as the top-ranked player in the world. Sabalenka's season was highlighted by her consistency and dominance, particularly during a streak between August and October where she recorded 16 consecutive wins. She amassed an impressive 56-14 win-loss record for the year and earned nearly $10 million in prize money. Her achievements also included WTA 1000 titles in Cincinnati and Wuhan.
