In November 2024, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, an Indian former tennis player who earned a bronze medal in singles tennis at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, announced his retirement from professional tennis at the age of 35.


      - He was the sixth Indian male athlete to win a medal in tennis at the Asian Games.

      - Prajnesh Gunneswaran, who turned professional in 2010, reached a career-high ATP ranking of No. 75 in 2019 and a career-high doubles ranking of No. 248 in 2018.

      - He won two Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger singles titles, 8 International Tennis Federation (ITF) titles in singles, and 1 ITF title in doubles.

Main Points:-   (i) He also won national titles in every age group from under-12 to under-18.

      (ii) Throughout his career, he participated in all four Grand Slam tournaments, though he was unable to advance past the first round.

(iii) His best performance came at the Australian Open, where he competed in 2019 and 2020.
