Blue Origin's 28th Space Mission Marks Milestone with Emily Calandrelli as the 100th Woman in Space.

On November 22, 2024, Blue Origin, the United States of America (USA) based launch service provider, successfully completed its 9th human spaceflight and the 28th flight for the New Shepard program (NS-28). This suborbital journey carried 6 tourists into space aboard the New Shepard rocket from Launch Site One in West Texas, USA.


      - The astronaut crew included Emily Dawn Calandrelli, an advocate for STEM education; Sharon Hagle & Marc Hagle, a couple on their second Blue Origin mission; Austin Litteral, whose participation was sponsored by Whatnot, a livestream shopping platform; J.D. Russell, a former game warden and entrepreneur; and Hank Wolfond, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a Canadian investment firm.

      - Till November 2024, the program has flown 43 humans above the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space.

      - Emily Dawn Calandrelli, known as 'TheSpaceGal', is an Emmy-nominated television host, a bestselling author, and content creator. She became the first American woman to be the sole host of a nationally broadcast science series.

Main Points:-   (i) Emily Calandrelli became the 100th woman space traveler.

      (ii) She was the 10th woman to fly on a suborbital spaceflight above the Kármán line and the 21st woman to reach space on a suborbital trajectory, including the astronauts who soared higher than the United Nations (UN) recognized altitude of 50 miles (80 kilometers, km) on Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo (SS2) rocket plane.

(iii) She was now among the 94 men and women who have seen Earth from above 50 miles high.
