The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on November 18 said media reports claiming that an estimated 11 lakh children in India missed the first dose of measles vaccine in 2022 are "misinformed and inaccurate". Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 3.0 and 4.0 were launched in 2021 and 2022 to vaccinate all unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children with the missing or appropriate doses of vaccines. Additionally, IMI 5.0 was launched in 2023 with a specific focus on increasing MR vaccine coverage in children up to five years of age. The MR campaign was launched in Delhi and West Bengal, covering children aged nine months to 15 years. Several states have undertaken supplementary vaccination activities and outbreak response vaccination, providing additional doses of MR vaccine to a total of 30 million children.
