Coal India Limited Wins Green World Awards 2024.

Coal India Limited (CIL), a 'Maharatna' enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has been honored with the prestigious Green World Environment Award 2024 in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category and named Green World Ambassador.


      - The award recognizes CIL's significant contributions through the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojna, which provides permanent curative treatment for over 600 Thalassemia patients via stem cell (Bone Marrow) transplants/BMT.

      - The award was received by Director (Personnel/IR), CIL, Vinay Ranjan at The Orangery, Kensington Palace, London, United Kingdom (UK).

      - CIL pioneered CSR in 2017 by funding Thalassemia treatments through BMT, offering up to Rs 10 lakh for patients across India.

Main Points:-   (i) The initiative partners with 17 leading hospitals nationwide.

      (ii) The award was presented by The Green Organization, an independent environmental group established in 1994 to promote global environmental and CSR best practices.

(iii) Coal India Limited (CIL), the state-owned coal mining corporate established in 1975, is headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. CIL produces over 80% of India's coal and is responsible for 70% of coal-based power generation, meeting 40% of the nation's primary commercial energy needs.
