Pixxel launches 'Fireflies' hyperspectral satellite constellation.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) based space start-up Pixxel, which specializes in hyperspectral imaging and Earth observation, has introduced "Fireflies", a constellation of six next-gen hyperspectral satellites. The Fireflies are set to be launched in 2025.

  • - The Fireflies will offer unmatched precision with their native 5-meter resolution, more than 150 spectral bands, and a 40-kilometre (km) wide swath that enables the constellation to access any part of the globe on a daily basis.
  • - This will deliver critical data like early detection of crop diseases, pinpointing water stress, real-time deforestation monitoring, and tracking ocean pollution.
