Wriddhiman Saha Announces His Retirement from All Forms of Cricket.

Indian wicket-keeper and batter, Wriddhiman Saha (40), has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, marking the end of a successful career that lasted nearly 20 years. The ongoing Ranji Trophy season would be his last.


      - Wriddhiman Saha represented India in 40 Tests (1,353 runs) and 9 ODIs (One Day International). He holds the record for the second-most Test centuries among Indian keepers.

      - He was India's first-choice wicketkeeper-batter in red-ball cricket for some time after Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement and also appeared in 170 Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. He made his last Test appearance in 2021 against New Zealand.

     

Main Points:-   (i) He has been a key player for Bengal in domestic cricket, especially in the Ranji Trophy. He played for 5 Indian IPL franchises: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Punjab Kings (PBKS), SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Gujarat Titans (GT).

      (ii) Wriddhiman Saha won West Bengal's highest civilian award, the 'Banga Bibhushan' award.
