India Secures Bronze at Sultan of Johor Cup Junior Hockey U21 Tournament.

The Indian men's junior team, under the captaincy of Amir Ali, defeated New Zealand 3-2 to win the bronze medal at the 12th edition of the "Sultan of Johor Cup Junior Under 21 Men's Hockey Tournament 2024" at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.


      - This was India's second consecutive bronze medal at the tournament.

      - Participating Countries: India, New Zealand, Malaysia, Germany, Great Britain, and Japan.

     

Main Points:-   (i) Indian goalkeeper Bikramjit Singh made three crucial saves, and strikers Gurjot Singh, Manmeet Singh, and Sourabh Anand Kushwaha scored in the shootout to secure the win.

      (ii) Great Britain's U21 Men's squad defeated Australia to win the Gold medal at the 12th Sultan of Johor Cup. This was GB's fourth title at the Sultan of Johor Cup.

(iii) India won the Gold Medal at the Sultan of Johor Cup Junior Under 21 Men's Hockey Tournament in 2013, 2014, and 2022. Germany won the previous edition in 2023.
