Harmanpreet Singh named FIH Men's Player of the Year 2024 and PR Sreejesh wins Goalkeeper of the Year.

On 8th Nov 2024, Indian men's hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and former goalkeeper PR Sreejesh won FIH Men's Player of the Year and Men's Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively, during the 49th FIH Statutory Congress held in Muscat, Oman.


      - Winners were determined through a voting process involving an expert panel, national hockey associations, fans, and media.

      - Harmanpreet Singh had previously won the FIH Men's Player of the Year award in 2020-21 and 2021-22.

      - He won this title with 63.84% of the votes, while Joop de Mol (Netherlands) finished 2nd with 16.10% of the vote share.

Main Points:-   (i) PR Sreejesh, known as "The Wall of India," won his 3rd FIH Men's Goalkeeper of the Year award. He had earlier won this title in 2021 and 2022.

      (ii) He secured over 62% of the votes, while Olympic Gold medallist Pimrin Blaak (Netherlands) finished 2nd with 22% of the votes.
