National Legal Service Day (NLSD) is annually observed across India on 9th Nov to promote legal awareness and ensure equitable access to justice, particularly for marginalized communities.
- 9th Nov 2024 marks 30th observance of NLSD.
- Legal Services Authorities Act was passed in Oct 1987 under Art 39A of the Indian Constitution.
Main Points:- (i) Following the initiative of Dr. Justice A.S. Anand at the 1st Annual Meet of the State Legal Services Authorities which took place on 12th Sept 1998 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, 9th Nov is celebrated every year by Legal Service Authorities.
(ii) The 1st ever NLSD was celebrated on 09th Nov 1995.
