Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I), visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 29th to 30th October 2024. He participated in the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII8) and co-chaired the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Economy and Investment Committee in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
- The Union Minister held engagements with Saudi ministers, including the Ministers of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, and Investment. These discussions centered on collaborative efforts in trade, energy, and technology, concluding with actionable agreements to enhance trade and investment flows.
- The 8th FII took place from 29th to 31st October 2024 in Riyadh, with the theme "Infinite Horizons: Investing Today, Shaping Tomorrow."
- Union Minister Piyush Goyal unveiled the One District, One Product (ODOP) Wall at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, showcasing unique products from various Indian districts.
Main Points:- (i) Union Minister Piyush Goyal participated in the Plenary Session of the 8th FII, alongside global representatives from governments and industries.
(ii) The event successfully secured over USD 70 billion in investment agreements.
(iii) The ODOP initiative, part of India's "Vocal for Local" campaign, highlights regional craftsmanship and promotes India’s rich cultural heritage through high-quality, distinctive products.
