RPF and MoWCD Unveil Updated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to Safeguard Vulnerable Children.

On 25th October 2024, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Railways (MoR) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD), launched the revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to protect vulnerable children on railway premises across the nation. The launch event took place at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi.


      - The comprehensive SOP outlines a detailed framework for safeguarding children who come into contact with Indian Railways.

      - This revised SOP strengthens MoR's commitment to preventing child exploitation and trafficking, offering a safety net for vulnerable children.

     

Main Points:-   (i) During the event, Indian Railways and MoWCD also announced the expansion of Child Help Desks (CHDs) at major railway stations, enhancing the support network for children in need.

      (ii) RPF highlighted the importance of reinforcing Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) and urged states like Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh (MP) to set up these units at their railway stations to prevent trafficking and improve passenger safety.
