International Day for Biosphere Reserves Observed on 3 November 2024.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) celebrates the International Day for Biosphere Reserves (BR) or World Biosphere Reserve Day on November 3 each year. This day aims to raise awareness about the importance of Biosphere Reserves and promote their conservation and sustainable use.


      - The day serves as a platform to protect the delicate balance between human activities and the environment.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) November 3, 2024, marks the observance of the 3rd International Day for Biosphere Reserves.

      (ii) The 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference adopted resolution (41 C/37) and declared November 3 as the International Day for Biosphere Reserves in 2021.

(iii) The first-ever International Day for Biosphere Reserves was celebrated on November 3, 2022.
